Social Distancing | The Spring Break Edition

Social Distancing can be tough, especially during Spring Break!

We’ve survived the first week of self-quarantine and social distancing while working from home, but now it’s spring break. This is the time to have fun, relax, and spend time with friends and family! Unfortunately, the outbreak of the coronavirus, has caused us to avoid large gatherings, keep distance from others, and isolate ourselves as much as possible.

We’ve been cooped up for a week and still can’t hit up local businesses or events, so how can we enjoy Spring Break through all of this while also staying healthy?

We’ve compiled 7 creative ways to have fun and social distance like a champ.

1. Attend Concerts and Parties Online

I know, I know. There’s nothing better than seeing a concert live and in-person but seeing them for free and in the comfort of your home is the next best thing. 2. Host a Netflix Watch Party

Instead of binge-watching Netflix shows all alone to mindlessly pass time, people rallied together virtually to hold Netflix parties with their friends, thanks to the Netflix Party Chrome Extension.
Once downloaded, the extension allows you to watch a show at the same time with your friends and send each other messages. Some began using the hashtag #NetflixParty to share their experiences on social media.
3. Create a Neighborhood Art Museum

Daphne Sashin, a parent in California, asked her neighbors to draw on their sidewalks and driveways with chalk to help keep their children entertained during the state’s coronavirus shelter in place.

“The idea was this would be something that would brighten everyone’s day and it would bring us together as a community, even though we can’t physically be together,” Sashin told CNN.

“This was an extra motivation to walk around the neighborhood,” she said. “It brought people together in a safe way.”

More than 60 neighborhood homes contributed to the community art museum, and Sashin is hopeful that this could become a tradition.

Choose workouts together with your friends and start your morning off with a sweat session, or end the day with one. When more people join, you will feel more accountable.

Traveling may be limited and zoos may be closed but that won’t stop you from being able to see various zoos and aquariums via live stream. Take a peek at what some of the institutions are offering online.

6. Host a Virtual Happy Hour

Just because bars and restaurants are closed doesn’t mean you can’t get together with your friends for a drink! Many people are turning to video chat platforms to lessen feelings of social isolation.

7. Get Outdoors

You can leave your homes in most cases, just practice social distancing if you’re not under curfew or shelter-in-place orders. Fresh air and exercise are good for your physical and mental health. You can walk around your neighborhood or visit one of the numerous trails and parks Boise has to offer. We recommend Tablerock, Stack Rock, Camel’s Back, and the dirt bike course at Eagle Island State Park.
